CORPORATE SAFETY COMMITMENT
The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency was created vide Act No. 48 of 1999 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to develop the Nigerian Airspace to a level consistent with the requirements of the ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPSs). The Agency is saddled with the provision of Air Navigation Services to ensure a Safe, efficient, expeditious and economic flight operations.
In compliance with the mandate, the agency has set a vision of making the Nigerian Airspace rank among the SAFEST airspaces in the African-Indian Ocean (AFI) region and indeed, the world over.
VISION: Assuring the safety and economic well being of airspace users.
MISSION STATEMENT: NAMA is committed to the provision of SAFE, EFFICIENT, Effective and Economic Air Navigation Services.
To achieve her mission statement, the Agency has set the following objectives:
1.       To continue to provide safe and functional air navigation services that will meet international standards.
2.       To increase Air Traffic Management (ATM) capacities in order to manage the increasing air traffic volume and simultaneously reduce delays.
3.       To enhance service quality.
4.       To reduce cost of airspace.
POLICY STATEMENT: SAFETY is our priority in the provision of air Navigation Services. We are committed to implementing strategies, management systems and processes to ensure that all our Air Traffic Management activities uphold the highest level of safety performance and meet national and international standards. Safety culture is embedded in all our operations, in order to improve safety through proactive management rather than re- active compliance with regulatory requirements.
COMMITMENT:
·         All levels of management are clearly committed to safety, starting with the MD/CE.
·         Necessary training are programmed to build and maintain meaningful safety leadership skills.
·         Just-culture principle of non-punitive open safety communication is established.
·         All relevant staff are involved in the decision making process.
·         Safety of our employees, customers and contractors are a strategic issue of the Agency.
·         Our goal is the adoption of “BEST PRACTICE” Standards and partnership between Safety and Quality Management.
